Seoul: Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled its latest concept car, INSTEROID, at a launch event in Seoul ahead of its public display at the Seoul Mobility Show from April 3–13.
Based on the high-selling INSTER electric SUV, INSTEROID reimagines the EV as a gamified, sporty, and emotionally engaging “Dream Car.”
Presented during a “Night Garage Party” at Peaches D8NE, the concept blends gaming aesthetics with Hyundai’s bold design language and extensive customizations.
Developed in secrecy by Hyundai's European design team, the name INSTEROID merges the INSTER name plate with the dynamic energy of “steroids,” reflecting its performance-focused identity.
The car features an extended body, race-focused components such as a spoiler, diffuser, and track wheels, and an immersive cockpit with bucket seats and a roll cage.
Unique elements like the Beat House sound system and Message Grid allow for interactive engagement, while a specialized Drift Mode and signature sound aim to deliver a multisensory driving experience.
Highlighting Hyundai’s sustainability goals, the interior incorporates 3D knit fabrics made from recycled yarns.
The striking white exterior is accented by bold orange highlights and paired with a custom reflective race suit.
As part of the launch, Hyundai showcased a video game where players evolve the INSTER into INSTEROID, underscoring the brand’s growing presence in gaming.
The concept also includes the reveal of INSTEROID Kart, set to feature in the game Kartrider Rush+.
Hyundai plans to take INSTEROID to major auto shows globally, positioning it as a halo model for the INSTER lineup, which continues to see high demand.
The INSTER’s global rollout will expand further in 2025 to additional markets across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and the Americas.
